Charlotte's TC Gemini Coupe
Update 12th September 2001
The Gemini has been sold. Sob sob. :( It has gone to a good home though and the new owner has plans for new paint (goodbye orange, hello light blue) and a bigger, more powerful motor (most likely twin-cam Isuzu of some description).
Specs
This was my second car, I bought it (actually, swapped it and some cash for my previous Gemini, a red TG sedan with flares [see pic below]!) in early 1997. It was pretty standard at that stage, the only mods were the wheels and the interior, most of which had been recovered (seats, floor, parcel shelf, door cards) as the previous owner was an auto upholsterer by trade. It gradually received a few mods as time went by, including;
-
LOTS of interior and exterior colour-coding and detailing, mostly in purple and silver. I figured being bright orange the car already stood out so why not make it even louder! (This is not a philosophy I stand by these days, incidentally)
-
a couple of steering wheels, a set of sports pedals, a beautiful aluminum custom-fabricated gearknob which goes from car to car and is currently in the Datsun 1200 coupe
-
the usual exhaust mods including extractors, 2 1/4" exhaust with a 3" tip (chrome until it got repeatedly scraped off - ahh the joys of owning a lowered car) and a Mercury muffler
-
a Weber carby (Cortina sourced) with big jets and custom accelerator cable mount
-
various stereos (a couple of which were stolen, bastards), ending up with the current Sony Xplod CD player with DDDrive 6 x 9's in the parcel shelf and Infinity Kappa 6 1/2"s in the doors
-
a set of 3 gauges mounted in the centre console and an Auto meter chrome tacho, also stolen
-
an alarm, due to reasons mentioned above
-
a couple of sets of new door locks, also for reasons mentioned above!
-
lowered suspension (and awesome handling) due to heavy duty springs and new shockies, and front and rear sway bars
-
various chrome engine bay bits
-
TD headlight and grille conversion, thanks to a TD wagon I bought for parts (see pic below)
-
a couple of sets of 205/60 tyres
-
a 30/70 cam until it was pilfered for a friends car
-
various G160 bottom ends and heads
-
various gearboxes, currently has a 5 speed
-
a heavy duty clutch which held up surprisingly well
-
and probably some more stuff that I can't remember!

The Gemmi is a great car and I have loved owning it, despite the annoyed looks I have received for its loudness, both in colour and noise! Unfortunately the time has come to part with it to make way for 'Project Datto' (its sale will finance the engine conversion), as much as I have the urge to take it off the road, completely strip it down for a ground-up rebuild, featuring an Isuzu 1.8L turbocharged fuel injected twin-cam and colourshift gold/bronze/maroon paint, with an LSD, four wheel cross drilled and slotted discs, a full velour interior with a completely reconditioned dash, all new chrome, full Koni and Kings suspension.... anyway where was I?? Yeah that's right, its up for sale. But maybe sometime in the future I'll buy another one and do it up.
