Charlotte's CA18DET Datsun 1600
Update 20th July 2002
We have been doing a few things with the datto lately but not much as we have both gone back to TAFE now. Thursday and Friday we installed the fuel lines and fiddled around with the rear end, trying to combine the best condition components from each car such as brakes, springs, shockies etc. I am going to have to make do with the standard unlocked diff until I can afford a LSD though which really sucks but I will just have to go easy on it for a while.
Have also ordered the new carpet (charcoal grey) which should be here next Tuesday, and my other interior bits like the hoodliner are getting made at the moment. We are hoping to get it running in the next couple of weeks. :)
The tappet covers and intercooler pipes have been painted in 2-pack 'Kent Green which looks great. 'In the meantime here are some images of my surge tank (stainless steel, brass fittings, 1.5L) and modified N14 Pulsar radiator - it has been shortened lengthways to fit between the intercooler pipes and the inlet/outlet pipes have been changed to match up to the CA18 pipes. It should sit a lot better than the Commodore one that was in it previously, so as long as it keeps the car nice and cool it all should be good.
If you are interested in getting a surge tank like the one below please contact Cam here, he sells the 1L version for about $150 and can get them delivered to anywhere in Australia for under $20, as you can see from the photos they are beautifully made and they look great.
